Henry Kothay

Synopsis

This play is about the struggle of the labour class for their basic rights. Any specific region or a specific time is irrelevant here because the background of the play is always the same everywhere in the world over time. The play basically revolves around the lives of some taxi drivers in the city and some people belong to their union. The main highlights of the play are
the daily crisis of living, a dying soul, regular insecurities, and deficiency of minimum nutrition. It also shows the influence of state agents, their limitations, and a startled potential past.

At the beginning of the play, the taxi drivers want to go on a strike to bring back their old days, when they could have enough of food. But the union president is determined to convince them that the strike is useless as it is never a solution but an alternative death. Some other characters like doctors, scientists, rejected actors, and others are gradually revealed. All of them are members of the union. Their life story indicates the crisis of the working class from different sectors of the society is more or less the same. There are two social categories, the workers and owners.

A movement is not easy when witnesses and friends can be purchased with money. When all the possibilities are dying, a hope still awakes them that Henry must join them one day. However, they have never seen Henry, but they have heard a lot about him. He is a great revolutionary, who roars like a lion. The flame of his burning eyes can destroy all the inauspicious conspiracy of the owner-class. His presence in a movement leads to absolute success. So everyone wants Henry to come and challenge the state and state agents and machinery by making their strike successful. So that no child has to sleep with an empty
stomach. Only then the anti-people agendas end and a new morning will start, revolution will come.
